UIL Computer Science

The UIL Computer Science competition is a two-part event; it consists of a comprehensive written test, and a programming section where the students write a program to solve a given problem. All code is written using the JAVA computer language. The time is divided between working on basic topics for understanding the language, debugging and analzying segments of code, and writing your own programs.

The written portion of the test consists of 40 questions lasting 45 minutes. Calculators of any kind are not allowed to be used on this test. The programming portion is a two-hour session in which a team of exactly 3 members will write mini-programs to solve as many of the 12 presented problems as possible.

Any students interested in learning more about the competition or participating can come by my room, B10, and I'll get them any necessary information.
